How to reduce Pain and other health conditions simply from your mind!

Looking at the good things in life, rather than focusing on the bad (when they happen) will help you to not only be able to think of better solutions, when not in a stressed state, but it will also keep you healthy, reduce pain, and get you sleeping better!

How? You ask?

There is plenty of evidence in science that a state of mental stress decreases health for our bodies. Stress actually harms our bodies, not only our minds. This stressed state affects everything from you being able to digest your food, to even your hormones. Ever missed a period because you were very worried about something? Hot flushes? Increased heart rate? Higher blood sugar levels? Gained weight very easily? Not able to sleep properly? Increased pain?

Chronic stress can affect your thyroid, heart, pancreas (blood sugar), weight – and can contribute to things like obesity, hyperthyroidism, hashimotos, hypothyroidism, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, diabetes, insomnia, gastrointestinal problems like IBS, Alzheimer’s disease, depression, anxiety, insomnia, infections, colds and flu and even asthma and headaches.

Life events play their parts in chronic stress and your health, as does the food you eat, the people you hang around as well as the environment.

What can be done about it?

Aside from keeping far away from the wrong kind of people like abusers, narcissists ect,  some simple ways you can relieve stress is:-

Exercise – like swimming, walking, lite jogging, ect Even Yoga! This helps you with joining your mind and body and increases your breath awareness. Research found that Yoga helps to enhance mood and helps to reduce anxiety and depression.

Saying NO! – Be selective about what you take on/juggling more responsibilities, as saying no to things that will add to your own stress load unnecessarily can reduce your stress levels and stop you feeling overwhelmed.

Reducing caffeine – switch to decaff or better yet, more water!

Make a list of things that need doing! – this will give you a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment and reduce stress levels as you tick off what needed to be done, as it is done. This will also help with reducing procrastination (which also adds to stress levels)

Eating healthier – increasing your vegetables and fruits and consuming high quality grass fed meats / ensuring you are consuming enough protein weather plant or animal based.

Being around nice loving and supportive people and family and pets!

Laughing – watching a funny movie, being with funny friends

Taking time out to do what you love like something artistic, gardening, camping, reading ect

Grounding – putting your bare feet on the ground/grass and sitting out in nature listening to the wind and the animals.

Think of all the good things that you are grateful for in your life and all the good things that have happened thus far.

Listening to music that is soothing – like instrumental slow paced music and nature sounds. This helps with reducing stress.

Herbs – Making a tea of lemon balm can help with stress, as can Passionflower, Chamomile and Lavender.
