Having struggled with my weight from the age of 6 years old onward and having had the experience of every “diet” imaginable out there (and ones made up), THIS Metabolic Balance® Program was the BEST program I have ever been on for consistent weight loss and fat release, not feeling hungry, no cravings, a basic easy plan, and increased health! My starting weight was 125kg with BMI of 41. My waste measurement was 127cm, my hips were 147cm and my upper thigh was 73cm.


Back in my early teens I did the Beverly hills diet (mostly fruit) and while I did lose about 10-15 kgs, I could never go down to my ideal weight. The lack of calcium in my bones caused my shin and foot bones to crack when I tripped on the road curb and fell at the age of 17. I could lose 4kgs in a week but then they would be back on in one or two days.
I had been vegetarian (when I was 16) for a year, there wasn’t a change in my weight.
I did weight watchers and lost 10 kgs in my 20’s, but was still tired, frumpy, fat, hungry, cravings. And yes, it came back on.
I have always had a very big belly, from as far back as I can remember as a 6-year-old. When I was this small, I remember holding my fat rolls in one hand and a pair of scissors in the other, wanting to “cut the fat off”.
I’ve done the cabbage diet (it was very salty), just not eating anything, other “fads”, taking green coffee bean and other supplements to reduce appetite, eating small frequent meals to help “speed up” my metabolism…. HA, nope – still fat, still tired!
I had been vegan for 4 months in my 30’s, I lost a total of 4 kgs. At this time my iron levels were dwindling lower and lower as I didn’t know enough about food and nutrition back then, ensuring one should get adequate protein from plant sources, my iron levels continued to drop. This perpetuated many other health problems from then onward for years.

So, I’m in my mid 30s and I’m doing these stupid diets, not only am I NOT losing weight, but my hair is growing ever thinner and thinner. Here I was thinking…. Well, if I’m going to put on weight by not eating and also have my hair thin out, stuff it, I’m going to eat and put on weight (anyway) and have thick hair. So back then, I didn’t worry about diets (but still jumped the scales every single day anyway) and I kept just gradually putting on a few kgs here and there as each year passed.
My sleep was not restful. Sometimes I would wake up gasping for air most of the night (obvious sleep apnoea, but I didn’t want to admit it), or I had a continuous drip at the back of my throat making me cough because of the tickle. All night long I would cough and cough. Add to this getting up and going to the loo to pee a few times a night…. Where was the decent sleep? – This adds to stress increasing cortisone which increases belly fat.
Once I got to my early to middle 30’s no diet. NOTHING was working. And when I say “working” I mean losing a bit then putting it all back on later. I even did keto in my late 30’s and lost a grand total of 2kgs in 3 weeks, (not enough). Not to mention the massive constipation!
I had been on blood pressure tablets since 2012 – 130/95 (on tablets). My fasting blood sugar levels were pre-diabetic – (High 5s and 6).
Since doing Metabolic Balance® for 5 months I no longer needed any blood pressure medication, in fact my blood pressure was far better than it had ever been most of my life! It came down to 109/72 (no tablets). After 6 months of doing Metabolic Balance® my fasting blood sugar levels are no longer pre-diabetic and are in more normal ranges!
I got my mother to do the program and she lost 12 kgs in a short amount of time, she is diabetic, and her sugar levels have gone down so much she is so happy. In all the years going to the doctor, the pills and their advice could never get it down to the ranges she has them at currently.

So from 2015 onward I was studying my Naturopathic course and continued to ignore my own health problems to “get through that next assignment so I can finish” and this went on for over three years. Iron levels were plummeting to the point of my elbows would bruise when I sat at a desk and held up my head with my hands. WOW…. But I ignored it all to keep on going.
How many of you do this too? It’s the job, the housework, the study, the kids, social outings, cleaning ect. Well I cut back on the social and the housework and just focused on the bare needs of feeding the children, the animals and doing assignments and study.
Those turning moments that made me stop and think…..not just about failing health, eventually I kept telling myself its age, or I’m just unfit, or I just need to move more (yet I had no energy to move). I woke up one day and didn’t understand that my get up and go got up and went, ages ago….
I was feeling bad about myself, how I looked, no energy, brain fog, no stamina, no sex drive, felt horrible about myself. I was so upset that I had no energy to do the things I used to be able to do (even at this weight).
Seeing myself in photographs I thought to myself “who the hell is that? How did I get so big? That’s not how I see myself? and then I would convince myself “That’s a bad photo” I kept telling myself (at every photo).
It really surprised me seeing a photograph of me from the back! I went WHOA! I didn’t realise I was THAT BIG!?!?!? Or from seeing a full-length photo I would think to myself “how the heck did I get this big? Again!? (yes again, yo yo dieting remember?)
Since I had tried absolutely EVERYTHING else, the last thing being Keto and ended up constipated and unhappy, I heard about the Metabolic Balance® dietary lifestyle from a friend who is a fellow Naturopath, she was looking pretty good too….
